Storage devices serve a
number of purposes on a refrigeration system. On the high
side of a system, the receiver will hold additional system
refrigerant charge. On the low side of the system, the
accumulator will trap excess liquid, keeping it from getting to
the compressor. The oil separator will remove oil from the
discharge vapor and return it to the compressor.
