20 – 90 HP low & medium temperature and 50 – 140 HP medium & high temperature screw compressors are available from Copeland Corporation. These screw compressors set the standard in technology and performance. The Copeland Screw compressors are of two-shaft rotary displacement design with patented high efficiency rotor profile geometry. Additionally, the small size, low sound levels and low vibration provide benefits in many applications.  

Reliability

Copeland Screw compressors do not have any working valves and the rotating technology design of these compressors has proven highly reliable. All screw compressors are supplied with a built-in pressure switch that checks for correct rotation direction to insure protection of the compressor. Large size radial and axial bearings locate each end of the rotors, which in conjunction with generously sized oil supply chambers provides optimal emergency running characteristics. An internal pressure relief valve acts as bursting protection.

Efficiency

The Copeland Screw compressor provides high efficiency operation. Standard two-step capacity control in conjunction with economizer operation provides the highest efficiency possible, regardless of the load requirements. With high compression ratios (low temperature cooling) the economizer provides optimized compressor and system efficiencies due to increasing mass flow without a huge penalty in input power. Also improving operating efficiency is the use of a “Duo-Port”. This is a special discharge port contour with an additional radial outlet. This enables a dynamic flow-off behavior matching the various operating conditions that avoids the efficiency penalty due to over compression of the refrigerant.  Screw compressors are also easily applied with variable frequency drives which further enhance the operating efficiency and application versatility.

For industrial refrigeration applications, such as process chillers, the Copeland Compact Screw compressors in the high temperature range provide an ideal solution.  The integrated oil separator and oil reservoir significantly reduces the installation time, complexity, cost and space required.  These compressors are available in sizes from 50 - 140 HP and feature infinitely adjustable capacity control from 25% to 100%.
