| Fire fighting foam systems suppress fire by
separating the fuel from the air. Foam blankets
the fuel surface, smothering the fire. The fuel is
cooled by the water content of the foam, and the
foam blanket suppresses the release of flammable
vapors that can mix with the air. Foam systems are
most often used with hazards involving flammable
liquids and where the danger of leakage or rapid
spreading is present. It can be found in petroleum
transfer stations, aircraft hangars; fill racks on
gas transports and in other similar
applications. |
